In Fighter, Marcin Glod portrays Muhammad Ali, one of the most iconic figures in the history of boxing and a universal symbol of strength, determination and resilience. Drawing on the visual language of Pop Art and the silkscreen techniques famously associated with Andy Warhol, Glod repeats Ali’s image across the composition, transforming the individual into an almost iconic figure.
The monochromatic silkscreen imagery is contrasted by expressive pink interventions, applied directly by Glod with his bare hands. This physical gesture becomes an essential part of the work: the act of painting itself reflects the act of fighting — the use of force, endurance and the human body.
The contrast between mechanical repetition and spontaneous hand-painted marks creates a dialogue between control and instinct, reproduction and individuality. Through Ali’s image and the physicality of his own artistic process, Glod explores the emotional and symbolic meaning of struggle, strength and perseverance.
